Back Pain Can Happen to Anyone….Including Famous People!

Back pain is an almost-universal experience, and that doesn’t exempt some of the most well-known names in the world from having it. Are you already aware that some of the most famous names around the world have revealed that they have suffered from back pain? If not, learn all about it right here!

George Clooney

The actor suffered from chronic back pain as a result of a stunt he performed on the set of Syriana so bad that he had to undergo spinal fusion surgery. The injury resulted in his spine being broken and even his cerebrospinal fluid leaking. While it didn’t relieve all the symptoms 100%, the procedure did help him out significantly.

Tobey Maguire

Being Spider-Man is an exhausting job. All that swinging on webs is just bound to break your back one day, right? While on the set of Seabiscuit. Spider-Man 2 was almost canceled as a result of this – and if you saw Spider-Man: No Way Home last winter, then you may have recalled the scene where Andrew Garfield has to help Tobey who was complaining about his back pain.

Turns out he wasn’t kidding….

Harrison Ford

When you’re a star in both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, it’s bound to take a toll on you. Ford herniated his disk while filming Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in the 1980s. As a result, he had to fly back to Los Angeles to undergo surgery to resolve the problem.

The actress has had scoliosis since she was a child, a condition where the spine curves in an abnormal manner. Understandably, it can result in back pain. “I grew up with, and I still have, major scoliosis,” said Gellar. “Growing up in Manhattan, you had your school bag, but we were so trend-conscious, nobody wanted to put a backpack on both shoulders, so almost all the girls I grew up with have it to some degree, because we all were so lopsided. So Pilates not only is a great exercise, but it does relieve a lot of discomfort.”

Years after concluding his term as the 43rd President of the United States, Bush Jr. underwent surgery for a persistent disc problem in 2013.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963)

Despite being in office for less than 3 years, JFK is one of the most popular historical Presidents. He had collapsed vertebrae during his time serving in the U.S. Navy. It is believed that his back pain during a football incident that occured while he was attending Harvard University.

Kurt Cobian (1967-1994)

The late singer from Nirvana also had scoliosis. He cited his condition as an inspiration for his music in several interviews. “I have scoliosis. I had minor scoliosis in junior high, and since I’ve been playing guitar ever since, the weight of the guitar has made my back grow in this curvature. So when I stand, everything is sideways. It’s weird. ”
